Buttered bread covered in chocolate sprinkles
🇳🇱 Gelderland
Hagelslag — chocolate (or fruit) sprinkles scattered thickly over buttered bread — is a genuinely everyday Dutch breakfast, eaten by children and adults alike without apology. The butter is essential: it holds the sprinkles in place. It is proof that a good breakfast doesn't need to be complicated.
